The Story of the Stations

Before Studio23 brought UAAP popularity to new heights with revolutionary advertising and sufficient airtime, there were several other networks that had made their own mark on the league.

Late 1980’s

As the Ateneo-La Salle rivalry was revived, interest in UAAP television coverage started with Channel 13.

1990- 1991

Viva-Vintage covered UAAP games with the likes of Quinito Henson, Chiqui Roa, and Tommy Manotoc as commentators

1991- 2000

Silverstar Sports was given the rights to cover the games, first under RPN 9 then under PTV 4

2000-present

With ABS-CBN winning coverage rights, massive improvements were seen in game present coverage. The network introduced the use of crane cameras, school courtside reporters, and high-definition broadcast on Sky Cable
