Statement of Clarification on “Integrity in UAAP”

On September 8, 2013, The GUIDON released an opinion piece online entitled “Integrity in UAAP” by Mr. Lester C. Yee, a lecturer of the Interdisciplinary Studies Department of the Loyola Schools.

Since then, the opinion piece has received significant negative attention online.

The GUIDON would like to clarify that the article is a guest piece from Mr. Yee. As such, it represents Mr. Yee’s opinion and reflects neither the stand of The GUIDON, nor that of the university.

The GUIDON regularly publishes guest opinion pieces both in print and online from students and faculty members, as it seeks to be an open channel for discourse on various issues, including those brought up in Mr. Yee’s article.

As the GUIDON respects the opinions of guest writers, we also respect the views and reactions of our audience. Any suppression of such opinions would run counter to our aforementioned goals as a student publication.
