THE COMPANY of Ateneo Dancers (CADs) commanded attention on stage after delivering two masterclass performances at the 2026 Dance Supremacy Kings and Queens inter-school dance competition. Their efforts resulted in a first runner-up finish in the Kings College Division and a second runner-up placement in the Queens College Division, with scores of 91.18 and 91.00, respectively.
Additionally, both ensembles captured the audience’s hearts, winning the crowd favorite award in both divisions. The event was held on January 10 at the Solaire Theatre in Parañaque City, where top collegiate dance troupes were pitted against each other.
Inspired by Terry Crews’ Euro Training skit, the Kings delivered a dance number designed to entertain and humor the audience. Coupled with their own flair, the sequence fleshed out the story of a persona gaining confidence through perseverance and the support of his friends, known as the CADsBros.
Shifting to a more familial tone, the Queens narrated the story of a single mother raising her daughter as she matures into womanhood. Their performance highlighted themes of time, growth, and the weight of responsibility. Moreover, the piece traced parenthood from its early years, then through periods of conflict, before achieving stability in maturity.
After their second stint in Dance Supremacy since the pandemic, Head Coach Jesse “Reflex” Gotangco expressed gratitude to those who were able to witness their success and vowed to continue CADs’ commitment to excellence and artistry moving forward.
“We are grateful and happy with all the feedback we’ve received from the judges and everyone who saw these routines come to life. Nonetheless, we will continue to strive for dance-production excellence moving forward,” Gotangco shared.
Still hungry for success, CADs is set to storm the spotlight as their contemporary division will compete at the World of Dance Philippines 2026. The event is set to take place on March 29 at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre in the City of Pasay.
Following their upcoming World of Dance appearance, CADs will also bring the heat to the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 88 Streetdance Competition, tentatively scheduled for May 3.
