THE ATENEO Blue Eagles held their fourth annual golf invitational last September 17, at the Valley Golf & Country Club, North Course in the City of Antipolo.

The DoubleDragon Ateneo Golf Invitational supports the Ateneo Golf Teams’ (AGT) growth in the sport. Proceeds from the invitational are utilized for tournament fees, training costs, and uniforms for the Blue Eagles. Moreover, the competition not only provides an avenue for the shared love of the sport but also fosters camaraderie and friendship within the Ateneo golfing community. This year’s invitational used a strokeplay two-man scramble with a combined average handicap format.

Richard Joson and Paolo Cagalingan were crowned as the overall champions, with a net score of 54. Princeton Wee and Joaquin Duavit earned the title of low net champions with a net score of 48. On the other hand, in class A, which ranged from a handicap of zero to seven, Lucas Aldeguer and Enzo Flores were crowned champions with a net score of 55. Class A runner-ups, alumni Enzo Fianza and Paqo Barro, finished with a net score of 58.

The class B champions are Hanson So and Kevin Zhuang with a net score of 50. Spade Barbers and Carlo Ramos scored 55, earning them the title of first runner-up. Conquering the class C division were Mike Joaquin and Pete Perez, while Dan Dionisio and Justin Agustin were named runner-ups.

For the fun hole winners, Paco Puyat earned the title of Longest Drive with a distance of 324 yards. Meanwhile, Oscar Visaya was named the Most Accurate Drive after his ball landed two feet from the line on hole 14. The Nearest to the Pin Award was handed to Yasmeen Go after landing her ball two feet from the hole.

Graduated Team Captain Paqo Barro expresses his excitement for the current team after the success of the invitational. “I feel proud of how they handled the event. Everyone was in high spirits and was enjoying themselves. I’m excited to see what the team can do this year. I know they’re capable of doing great things,” Barro shared.

After concluding a successful invitational that serves as a fundraiser for the team, the AGT looks forward to dominating their future competitions.
