THE ATENEO Women’s Beach Volleyball Team failed to secure a victory in both of their matches on day four of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines’ (UAAP) Beach Volleyball tournament earlier today at the Sands at SM by the Bay in Pasay City.

The Blue Eagles incurred two losses in today’s action, first against the Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws, 0-2, and later in the day against the National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs, 0-2.

Women’s Match vs. FEU

Looking to continue their run of form, the Blue Eagles stuck with their tried and true lineup of Liz Lomocso and Gyrdelle Matibag. In response, Melody Pons and Lovely Lopez were set to wave the flag for the Lady Tamaraws.

Up until the middle of the first set, the Katipunan-based squad was able to go blow-for-blow with the Lady Tamaraws. However, the Blue Eagles were unable to close the game as they were dealt a 15-21 defeat. The Blue and White then lost steam in the second set as they failed to get into double figures, 9-21.

Women’s Match vs. NU

A change of lineup was on the cards for the Blue Eagles as Lomocso was paired up with reserve Gena Hora, who saw action for the entirety of Season 86 alongside Roma Mae Doromal. On the side of NU, Negrense Cordero and Kat Epa suited up for the Lady Bulldogs.

Despite their best efforts to keep up with the competition, the Blue Eagles were ultimately overwhelmed by the opposition in the first set, 9-21. Come the second set, small strides were made by the Katipunan-based squad. However, the Blue and White failed to contain the Bulldogs’ high-octane offense, ultimately bowing with a score of 13-21.

The Women’s Volleyball Team will have the opportunity to end their elimination round campaign on a high note as they take on the Adamson Lady Falcons tomorrow, November 24, at 10:00 AM in the same venue.

Set Scores:
Ateneo vs. FEU: 15-21, 9-21
Ateneo vs NU: 9-21, 13-21
