THE ATENEO Blue Eagles defeated the Sunday Rim Hoopers (SRH), 103-55, earlier today at the Marikina Sports Center in Marikina City.

This win preserves the Blue Eagles’ pristine record, improving to 4-0, in the first round of the Marikina City Women’s Basketball League (MCWBL).

Ylassa Eufemiano, Kacey Dela Rosa, and Sandra Villacruz led the Blue Eagles’ offense, each tallying 17 points fueled by Jhaz Joson’s 11 assists. LJ Miranda and Angel Gino-Gino contributed to the Blue and White’s offensive output with 14 and 10 points, respectively. On the opposing side, Rim Hooper Guard Adie Adlawan recorded a double-double with 27 points and 14 rebounds.

The game started off rather turbulent with both teams turning the ball over and the Blue Eagles missing their matchups on the defensive end. However, with Joson setting the pace of the match compounded by Head Coach LA Mumar’s swift adjustments, the Blue Eagles were quick to get a hold of the game. Ateneo  ended the first half with a 51-28 advantage over the Rim Hoopers.

In the second half, the Blue Eagles put out all the stops, exploding for a 32-point scoring output in the third quarter in contrast to  the Rim Hoopers’ total of 11 points. The momentum stayed with the Blue Eagles as the match progressed, as Ateneo poured 20 points in the fourth and final quarter, finishing the game with a 48-point lead.

Hindi pa ito yung game namin. Marami pang adjustments na kailangang gawin. (This isn’t our best game yet. We still have a lot of adjustments to make),” answered by the Best Player of the Game Eufemiano when asked about her reactions to the Blue Eagles’ dominant win. Eufemiano shot a team-best 64% from the field, going five for five from the perimeter and two for six from beyond the arc.

The next game of the Ateneo Blue Eagles will be next week at the Marikina Sports Center in Marikina City.
