CONCLUDING HIS Tokyo 2020 Paralympics stint, Filipino racer Jerrold Mangliwan fell short of snatching a medal in the Men’s 100m wheelchair racing T52 finals held earlier today at the Olympic Stadium. Mangliwan clocked in with a time of 20.08, ranking him last in eighth place.

Unable to build momentum from the starting line, the Filipino Paralympian fell several meters behind his contenders throughout the race. Mangliwan was over three seconds short of 100m T52 world record holder Raymond Martin’s top time of 16.99, missing the bronze medal time by 2.64 seconds. Taking the medal slots are the USA’s Martin in first, Japan’s Yuki Oya in second with a time of 17.18, and Mexico’s Leonardo de Jesus Perez Juarez at 17.44.

With Mangliwan being the Philippines’ last contending athlete in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, the country caps off its participation in the games without a medal.
