EARLIER TODAY at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre, Filipino swimmer Gary Bejino failed to reach the finals of the Men’s 400m Freestyle S6 event after finishing sixth in his heat. Bejino punched in a time of 5:52.28, ranking him last in a humble 13th place overall to cap off his third event of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

Racing against four of the event’s finalists in Heat 1, Bejino struggled to overtake his competitors and finished sixth in his respective heat—46 seconds behind Talisson Henrique Glock’s top time of 5:06.28. Ranking in first, second, and third place respectively were Brazil’s Glock, the Russian Paralympic Committee’s Viacheslav Lenskii with a time of 5:11.07, and Italy’s Antonio Fantin at 5:12.08.

Bejino has one last opportunity to notch a Paralympic medal when he competes in the Men’s 100m backstroke S6 event on Friday, September 3, at 8:15 AM Manila time in the Tokyo Aquatics Centre.
