TO GIVE organizations more time for preparation and recruitment, Recruitment Week (RecWeek) was extended to July 5 to 9. The announcement came after the declaration of June 30 as a non-working holiday for the inauguration of President-elect Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
Initially, org recruitment was set for June 28 to July 2; however, due to the declaration of the nationwide holiday, RecWeek would be reduced to a four-day event instead of the original five days, prompting the extension.
The extended RecWeek will be held in the orgs’ respective rooms and would not be required of them.
The RecWeek Core, however, will require new signups for organizations who signed up for a performance on June 30. According to Issue and Policy Analysis Cluster Head Erikha Villasanta, clusters were required to perform while orgs were “highly encouraged.”
Villasanta said that the extension was beneficial not just to orgs and clusters but also to potential applicants. “Mabibigyan pa ng oras ‘yung mga tao na makapag-decide kung anong orgs ang sasalihan nila (People will be given more time to decide on which orgs they would want to join),” she said.
She added that this wasn’t the first time RecWeek was extended.
Like Villasanta, Media and the Creative Arts Cluster Head Joseph Teoxon said that he was alright with the extension. “‘Di naman mako-control ‘yung declaration [ng holiday] (The holiday declaration can’t be controlled). The RecWeek core is doing everything [to] compensate [for the plans affected by the] declaration,” he said.
