THERE IS no changing MVP’s mind.

Despite the Ateneo Board of Trustees’ decision to reject his resignation, Manuel V. Pangilinan (MVP) officially tendered his resignation from the board on Friday, April 16.

Pangilinan said in a letter to University President Fr. Bienvenido Nebres, SJ that he was grateful to Nebres and the Board for their support. He added, however, that he did not want to create division within the Ateneo community.

I have no desire to see this happen, or be an accessory to it. In that light and all things considered, it is best that I stand firm in my decision to retire, and reiterate this wish in my earlier note to you on 3rd April 2010,” Pangilinan continued.

He will also be returning the honorary degree conferred upon him by the university on March 26 for the sake of completeness and of good order.”

Pangilinan also said that he hoped that the controversy would end soon.
