Blue Eagles start Season 78 Baseball with 7-3 win

THE ATENEO Blue Eagles defeated the Adamson University, 7-3 on Thursday, February 4 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Malate.

The Falcons held the lead early in the game, scoring two runs off defensive errors from the Blue Eagles. However, the blue batters recovered offensively, with Marcus Alindogan contributing three hits and three runs off three at bats to fuel the Ateneo’s lead. Meanwhile, Paolo Macasaet looked strong at the mound, pitching a full nine innings and garnering a total nine strikeouts to hold Adamson at bay.

Bannered by strong defensive displays from rookie shortstop Gino Tantuico, who put in two hits and one run, the Ateneo pulled ahead by five going into the ninth inning.

This win puts the Blue Eagles at 1-0 in the elimination round standings of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Baseball tournament.

Their next game will be against the National University, 7:00AM, Sunday, February 7 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Malate.
