RIDING ANOTHER dominant performance from CJ Perez, Team Glory Be of the Ateneo Men’s Basketball team punched their ticket into the semifinal round of the Got Skills Elite Showcase tournament after defeating AMA Computer College, 87-76, last August 31, inside the Enderun Colleges gymnasium in Taguig City.

“Baby Beast” would once again lead his team with a dominant all-around performance, finishing the contest with a game-high 31 points. Perez would end up making 13 of his 18 total field goal attempts in his most efficient outing of the tournament so far. He would also tally seven rebounds, three assists, and five steals–all of which were team-highs. Backing Perez’s solid performance was Earl Murphy, who scored a season-high 19 points while making eight out of his 11 total field goal attempts.

The Blue and White once again got off to a slow start as they were down 20-23 by the end of the first quarter. However, the team relied on its defensive prowess to get back into the game by limiting their opponents to 13 points in the second quarter. They would enjoy a nine-point advantage by halftime and would not look back the rest of the way.

The team will next face the Enderun Colleges Titans–who they defeated in a previous 95-89 victory–on Sunday, September 6, for a seat in the finals of this 16-team tournament.

Box Score:

Ateneo 87 – Perez 31, Murphy 19, Micek 9, M. Ramos 9, Wong 6, Javelosa 4, Asuncion 4, Cariño 3, Porter 2, Cu 0, Salandanan 0, T. Ramos 0.

Quarter Scores: 20-23, 45-36, 64-55, 87-76.
