THE ATENEO Lady Eagles defeated University of the Philippines–Team Y (UP-Y), 2-0, on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.

After a dicey first half, Team Captain Camille Rodriguez was able to lead the way for the Blue and White by scoring both her team’s goals in the second half.

The first goal came in the 50th minute, when Rodriguez was able to capitalize on the UP-Y keeper’s soft punch out of the ball. The ball fell to the captain–who calmly slipped it into the back of the net while the keeper was out of position–to give the lady booters the 1-0 lead.

Rodriguez doubled the lead in the 80th minute in highlight-worthy fashion. The attacker used her quickeness to dance past the UP defense and make it to the opponent’s byline. With everyone expecting her to cross the ball, Rodriguez expertly attempted a shot on the goal from a tight angle. Her shot proved too powerful for the UP-Y keeper, who was not able to get a strong enough hand on the ball and allowed Rodriguez to get her brace.

This win puts the Lady Booters at 1-0 in the standings of the second Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Women’s Invitational Cup.
