TEAM GLORY Be of the Ateneo Men’s Basketball Team dropped its second game in the elimination round of the Fr. Martin Cup with a 76-89 defeat to the Mapúa Cardinals last Sunday, April 26 at the San Beda College Gymnasium in Mendiola.

The Cardinals’ torrid and timely outside shooting proved to be the difference in the game even after Head Coach Yuri Escueta implemented different defensive schemes in the hopes of neutralizing their opponent.

Aaron Black and the highly-touted CJ Perez led four players in double figures by finishing with 17 points apiece. Anton Asistio chipped in 15 points, which included three triples, while Jay Javelosa finished with a double-double performance with 10 points and 11 boards.

Both teams equally turned the ball over with 16 apiece but Team Glory Be struggled in the offensive end–only making 26 out of 69 of their total field goal attempts (38%).

This loss drops the team to a 1-2 (win-loss) record in the elimination round and hampers their chances of making it to the semi-final round of the tournament, wherein only the top two teams of each bracket would qualify for a chance to play for the championship.
