A HOSPITAL will soon be a part of the Loyola Schools (LS) campus.
After a special Mass in celebration of the Feast of St. Ignatius de Loyola held last July 28, Fr. Tony Moreno, SJ informed the Ateneo community about the construction of the Jesuit Health and Wellness Center in the Ateneo.
According to a report by The Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI), Moreno said that the plan to build the said hospital came from the aging Jesuit priests’ need for better medical attention.
The PDI report also said that the multi-story infrastructure “would serve as an infirmary for aging priests who have dedicated their lives to serving Filipinos.”
The hospital will be an upgrade from the current two-room Jesuit Infirmary located in the LS.
In his announcement, Moreno, who is the newly appointed Father Provincial of the Philippine Jesuits, already showed a video of possible architectural designs to be used for the construction of the said hospital.
The infrastructure will reportedly cost 120 million pesos.
Moreno assured the attendees of the Mass that business tycoon Ramon Ang has offered full financial support for the construction of the hospital.
Ang turned over the initial 60 million pesos for the project after he was acknowledged onstage by Moreno.
The PDI report also mentioned that the Jesuits are considering naming the infrastructure “Ang Ospital” in honor of its donor.
Ang is the president of San Miguel Corporation and chief operating officer of Philippine Airlines. He also serves as the chief executive officer of Cyber Bay Corporation and Petron Corporation.
