WITH A goal to reduce the number of cars at peak traffic hours, a school shuttle system has been launched on a weeklong trial last Monday.

The e-jeep shuttle, which is a recommendation of the Ateneo Traffic Group (ATG) to supplement the rerouting, encourages less dependence on private cars when travelling inside the campus and primarily intends to help motorists that have multiple destinations on campus.

“Once my brother gets dropped off [at the grade school], I can just ride the shuttle,” said freshman Eugenie Huibonhoa.

“The system will really be helpful and effective since what they’re also trying to do is reduce the number of cars.”

The shuttle, which is expected to make a full trip around the entire campus within 20 minutes, runs from 6:00 to 9:00 AM with drop-off points at the Grade School, JSEC Mall, Xavier Hall and the High School.

Security guard Jay Duabe who is assigned at Xavier Hall said that it isn’t that utilized yet. “Bago pa naman, hindi pa kabisado. Pero nakakatulong din naman po (It’s still new, so it is not as smooth yet. But it still helps.),” he said.
