EVEN WITH a 96% voter turnout, the Central Board (CB) Elections of the Council of Organizations of the Ateneo (COA) concluded with only 13 out of 25 positions occupied. The elections were held on February 11 and 12.

New criteria for candidates were put in place for this year, adding a cumulative QPI requirement of at least 2.50, as well as requiring candidates to attend a discernment talk and have consultations with the incumbent officers.

COA Vice President for Organization Strategies and Research Eldridge Tan said that having half of the CB positions still open for the run-off elections “is a trade-off of the preparation and discernment we expected from aspiring candidates.”

The following are the officers of the new COA CB, as elected by the incumbent CB, Executive Board and organization presidents.

President: Michaella Paula Aldea (81.94%)

Chief-of-Staff: Joshua Francis Uy (66.67%)

Finance Officer: Chris Evander Co (44.44%)

Analysis and Discourse Cluster Head: Juan Paolo Bañadera (100%)

Business Cluster Head: Diana Marie Dizon (100%)

Faith Formation Cluster (FFC) Head: Bernadine Ianne Lanot (100%)

FFC Secretary-Treasurer: Michelle Angela Parone (100%)

Health and Environment Cluster Head: Miguel Karlo Abadines (100%)

Inter-cultural Relations Cluster Head: Aiko Akiyama (100%)

Media and the Creative Arts Cluster Secretary-Treasurer: Dyan Rezette Suaco (66.67%)

Performing Arts Cluster (PAC) Head: Maria Leonila Nuñez (100%)

PAC Secretary-Treasurer: Axel Pangilinan (100%)

Science and Technology Cluster Secretary-Treasurer: Fhaerirose Tomas (80%)

The COA run-off elections for the vacant positions will be on February 21 to 22.
