ACCELERATING HIGHER FROM their Season 87 stint, the Company of Ateneo Dancers (CADs) attained fourth place in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 88 Streetdance competition. The event was held earlier today, May 3, at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City.

Out of the eight squads, CADs drew up an overall score of 89.83 points, which is a 0.5 difference from third placers La Salle Dance Company.

The performance marked a return to the Blue Eagle Gym as a streetdance venue for the first time since its October 2023 renovation, placing the Blue Eagles on familiar ground as they opened their campaign. Bannered by Team Captain Jan Imbao and guided by coach Jesse “Reflex” Gotangco, CADs took to the stage carrying both competitive momentum and a renewed emphasis on expression and artistry.

For their UAAP stint this year, the team’s piece centered on a broader artistic vision. “It is the enjoyment of the expression and artistry of dance,” Gotangco shared. He further described that the performance evolves from structured movement into more fluid and expressive choreography.

Complementing this, Imbao emphasized that the team’s drive extends beyond competition. “What we are really fighting for is the love we have and the passion for dance,” she noted.

Set to “Azizam” by Ed Sheeran, the Blue Eagles donned colorful suits and utilized newspapers as props, blending visual storytelling with dynamic choreography.  The Blue and White delivered a routine that highlighted both technical precision and artistic intent on the UAAP stage.

While CADs finished below a third-place standing, the Blue Eagles’ fourth-place finish signaled a program steadily on the rise. Grounded in both passion and purpose, CADs now turn their focus forward, carrying with them a renewed commitment to artistry, expression, and excellence in the seasons ahead.
