THE ATENEO Blue Babble Battalion graced the floor, demonstrating their passionate flame through a Sing-inspired routine. The squad staged their act at the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 88 Cheerdance Competition earlier today, November 29, at the Mall of Asia Arena in the City of Pasay.
Tallying a score of 74 dance points, 44 points for tumbling, 64 for stunts, 81 for tosses, 87 for pyramids, and a 39-point deduction, the Blue Eagles wound up in the 8th seat with 436.5 points.
National University (NU) Pep Squad clinched the crown with a ninja-themed performance, allowing them to score a sum of 695 points. At the same time, the Adamson University Pep Squad garnered 659 points, which earned them a silver finish, while the Far Eastern University (FEU) Cheering Squad banked 658.5 points to round out the podium.
Embracing the underdog status, the Blue and White resonated with the film’s message, of chasing dreams and overcoming the fear of failure. In their personal yet high-spirited take on the theme, the Atenean unit carried the movie’s essence, showing up and defying struggles.
The Blue Babble Battalion’s routine showed their commitment to self-improvement with more varied pyramids and individual gymnastic proficiencies in the stunts portion of the set.
Despite standing in eighth place, the Katipunan-based unit commendably took their shot at rising further, proudly exhibiting their love for the sport. Ahead of battle, the rookie-laden lineup experienced difficulty due to an injury-stricken roster. “We wanted to prove to everybody that we knew how to work through hardship,” Cheerdance Unit Co-Captain Geryna Abarcar expressed the team’s persistence to keep the show going despite adversity.
Carrying a shared passion for their craft, the Blue and White went the extra mile, mirroring the team’s consistent growth throughout the years. Powered by rising talents, the Blue Eagles are set to pour out their hearts beaming with Blue and White pride in the seasons ahead.
