Blue Eagles outclass Fighting Maroons in stage two opener

THE ATENEO Men’s Chess Team returns to their winning ways after avenging their round one loss to the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons with a comprehensive 3-1 victory. The match was held earlier today, October 11,  at the Adamson University Gym in the City of Manila.

With the win against their Katipunan foes, the Blue Eagles climbed back to second place in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Men’s Chess tournament ladder.

Team Captain Khalil-Kising, alongside Cedric Abris, continued their stellar form for the Blue and White as they notched full points against UP’s Melson Gallo and Daniel Galufa in boards two and four, respectively.

Meanwhile, Ritchie James Abeleda and Eowyn Jullado managed to eke out draws against Fighting Maroons Io Aristotle Nikolai Calica and Rodrenz Adra, enough to seal the deal for Ateneo.

The Blue Eagles’ next assignments will be against the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws at 9:00 AM, and the De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Woodpushers at 2:00 PM tomorrow at the same venue.
