THE ATENEO College Arnis Varsity Team (ACAVT) celebrated a night of prestige during the awarding ceremony held by the Korean Taekkyeon Association (KTA). The ceremony took place yesterday, August 27, at the Ateneo de Manila University Martial Arts Center in Quezon City.

The ceremony was part of a tradition the KTA and Ateneo developed over the past few years.  However, this year specifically brought a welcome change with the KTA developing an apprenticeship with the Blue and White. As part of their collaboration, the ACAVT has been training with the association for the past month to hone their skills.

During the event, the KTA installed a Taekkyeon center plaque inside the halls of the Ateneo Martial Arts Center. Moreover, the KTA officially recognized Ateneo’s Taekkyeon Club, which recently celebrated its second anniversary.

Riding off the tails of their third place finish in the 36th Arnis Pasindo Eskrima Invitational Tournament last June, the ACAVT is looking ahead to competing in future arnis competitions this coming semester.
