THE ATENEO Men’s Chess Team (AMCT) fell short against the De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Woodpushers, 1.5-2.5, earlier this afternoon, at the Adamson University Gym in the City of Manila.

The Blue Eagles deployed Paul Llanillo, Romeo Canino, Team Captain Khalil Kas-ing, and Knarf Batislaong on boards one to four, respectively. Across the table, the Green Woodpushers unleashed Cyril Telesforo, Angele Biete, Jester Sistoza, and Daniel Lemi also on boards one to four, correspondingly.

The AMCT secured their first point of the match courtesy of Llanillo’s strong showing on board one. Despite the strong start, Canino and Batislaong dropped their games on boards two and four, respectively, putting the Katipunan-based squad at a disadvantage, 1-2. While Kis-ing was keen on taking the win on board three to force an overall draw, the team captain only managed to get away with a stalemate which ultimately spelled their 1.5-2.5 defeat.

Eager to tally their first win in the second stage, the AMCT will face the Adamson Soaring Falcons on Sunday, November 17, at 11:00 AM, in the same venue.
