REPRESENTING SCHOOL and flag, the Company of Ateneo Dancers (CADs) placed 12th out of 37 at the Team Division of the World of Dance (WOD) Finals. CADs performed last August 11–14 at the Anaheim Convention Center in California, United States of America.
The Katipunan-based dance troupe finished 12th place in the competition with their four-and-a-half minute OPM-themed number displayed in front of an electrifying crowd.
Boasting an adept lineup of sophomores to newly-graduated alumni, the crew sustained outstanding levels of synergy and teamwork on the floor that broke ground for an impressive performance.
In a captivating display of creativity, the troupe began setting the scene against a backdrop where a karaoke machine prop took center stage—a familiar and reminiscent portrayal of casual gatherings in Filipino tradition.
Moving in synchrony with the familiar notes of “Dapat Sana” by Jensen and the Flips, the dancers seamlessly transitioned into their routine of contemporary and classical dance forms. The fusion of these styles shone the spotlight on the team’s versatility and skill, where talent and art coalesced into a stunning portrayal of Filipino culture.
Following an astounding comeback on the competition stage, the troupe will look to maintain its culture of excellence, commitment, and passion in its future endeavors under the Blue and White banner.
