ON HIS final event, Gary Bejino failed to advance to the finals of the Men’s 100m backstroke S6 at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre earlier today. Bejino ranked last among all contenders as he finished with a time of 1:28.87.

Of the 20 swimmers who competed among the three heats, only the top eight fastest swimmers advanced to the medal contention. China’s Jia Hongguang surpassed all other swimmers with a time of 1:14.15, while Argentina’s Matias de Andrade was only 0.23 seconds behind Hongguang—placing him in second at 1:14.38. Croatia’s Dino Sinovcic followed in third place with a time of 1:16.74.

The men’s 100m backstroke S6 event was Bejino’s final competition to conclude his Paralympic campaign. He competed in a total of four events and fell short in three of his previous events, the Men’s 200m Individual Medley SM6, Men’s 50m butterfly S6 event, and the Men’s 400m freestyle S6.
