Muay-Thai Ateneo medals in PTBA Mini-Tourney

MUAY-THAI ATENEO (MTA) in the PTBA’s (Philippine Thai Boxing Association) Amateur Muay-Thai tournament on Sunday, October 9 at the Elorde Tandang-Sora Gym in Quezon City. Among their opponents were members of various clubs throughout Manila such as Taraki Muay-Thai, DEFTAC Muay-Thai and Catalan.

Aleah Cunningham won her match on the second round against Kim Ballesteros. Lyll Cordeño also won in the second round of his match against Kaiser Briones of the Catalan Team. On the other hand, MTA captain Mico Malilin defeated his opponent Lucian Choy from DEFTAC in his first round. All said matches were ended via immediate stoppage.

When asked about the state of the Ateneo Muay-Thai after the small tourney, Malilin declared that “Muay-Thai is in good hands after I graduate,” also adding his enthusiasm for the “passionate people who stay and train on the team.”

Muay-Thai Ateneo will also be holding a tournament-style competition on November 6 at the Ateneo Martial Arts Center. Participants include student teams from San Beda and De La Salle.
