THE ATENEO Blue Eagles defeated the De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers in straight sets (25-14, 25-20, 25-21) on Sunday, April 3 at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Despite a slow start, the Blue Eagles protected the momentum once they seized it from the DLSU spikers. Marck Espejo and Joshua Villanueva led the team in attacks with 11 points apiece.

Meanwhile, Player of the Game Emmanuel Sumanguid played aggressively on the defensive side, with 20 excellent receives and eight digs. Rookies Ron Adrian Medalla and Gian Glorioso also performed well, with Glorioso chipping in the last two points of the final set.

This win puts the Blue Eagles at 11-1 in the elimination round standings of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 78 Men’s Volleyball tournament. It also puts them a step closer to a twice-to-beat advantage in the tournament’s Final Four round.

Their next game will be against the University of the East, 10AM, Wednesday, April 6 at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
