Atenean Voice: In light of the higher trike rates, would you rather walk to school?

“Trike pa rin! In the Philippines kasi, you can’t beat the heat! Also, it’s a hassle when it’s the start of the day and you already feel exhausted.”

-Ralph Jonathan Samson (IV BS Mgt)

“I think I would rather walk. Hindi lang ito isang paraan ng pagtitipid, kung hindi exercise. It’s a part of exercise, di ba? Imbes na sasakay ka pa sa trike, ‘di ba matatraffic ka? And then ‘di ka naman makakaupo nang maayos kasi ilan kayong sumasakay ‘di ba? So ‘yun, at least ikaw ‘yung may hawak ng energy mo ‘di ba? Nacoconsume mo ‘yung energy mo.”

-Bernadette Kinkito, Residence Halls Office Staff

“Well I’d still go on the trike.”

– Rose Bianca Benedicto (II BFA ID)

Depende kung pagod ka. Kahit na mas mahal ‘yung trike. ‘Tsaka ‘pag umuulan. Kung hindi mo talaga feel, magta-trike ka. Pero most of the time maglalakad.”

– Juan Paolo Cruz (III BS Psy)

“I’d still take a trike because it is more convenient, walking from Ateneo to the LRT station is torture…although I might lessen my food expenses.”

– Carren Jean Ramirez (I BS LM)

“No, well, depende kung san ako pupunta. If I’m going to the high school, I’m not gonna walk. A trike is more convenient anyway.”

– Kenneth Peter Lee (II AB Comm)

“I would rather walk. Prices are too high right now to complain about distances that are not that far to begin with. I think we should stop blaming [whomever] we think brought this burden upon us. If they cannot help us, then we should help ourselves.”

– Stephanie Anne Cuevas (II BS Mgt)

“I will walk…for physical fitness!”

– Katherine Punzalan, (I BS Bio)

“I’d rather walk, because a trike is noisy and it’s one of the contributors to air pollution. So noise and pollution should not be present within the campus. My first option relative to the other two would be cycling, which is not in your list.”

-Rosar Crisostomo, Theology Instructor

“I would use the tricycle because one, I do not like to walk, two, it’s hot, three, it’s reasonable, and four it’s quicker.”

– Jan Michael Jongko (IV AB MEco)

“I have no choice but to take the tricycle because I have to carry my bags and luggage and it is very hard to walk with [wearing] heels.”

– Florida Valdez, Rizal Library Reference Section Staff
