Since 2006, the yearly budget allotted to Philippine Defense has been continually rising. Parallel to that supposed growth, though, numerous reports linking generals to serious cases of graft and corruption have surfaced to the public. If this trend continues, the country is sure to find itself riding through a downward spiral, with the line between growth and decline slowly getting lost in the volatile world of the Philippine military.

In 2002: Gen. Diomedio Villanueva reportedly received P160,000,000 as send-off money during his retirement the same year.
Maj. Gen. Carlos Garcia was charged with perjury and Articles of War. Reports revealed that Garcia owns vehicles amounting to P1,500,000 and smuggled around $200,000 in his entry to the US in 2008.
Lt. Gen. Jacinto Ligot was alleged to have owned eight houses in the US despite a measly monthly salary of P35,000.
