The Quezon City government has ordered Shoe Mart Development Corporation (SMDC) to temporarily stop construction of the controversial Blue Residences until the legal issues surrounding the project are resolved.

In a notice issued last March 17 and received today by the Ateneo, local building official Isagani R. Versoza, Jr. cited the petitions raised by concerned groups in the Loyola Heights area as basis for the memo.

Loyola Grand Villas, La Vista Subdivision, Barangay Loyola Heights and the Ateneo de Manila University have been opposing the project due to SMDC’s alleged failure “to seriously take into consideration the series of environmental impact and effect” that the construction may have on the surrounding areas.
