THE ATENEO Women’s Football Team (AWFT) returned to the pitch in high spirits as they bagged the top prize in the Women’s Open division of the 2025 Beach Hut Summer Football Festival. The one-day tournament was held on June 22 in the Circulo Verde Football Field, Quezon City.

With some of the Blue Eagles returning from their respective stints in the Philippine Football Federation Women’s League, the Beach Hut Football Festival marked the beginning of the team’s preseason preparations.

The Blue and White faced five teams in the Women’s Open category, with each game following a seven-a-side variation. At the start of the tournament, the AWFT encountered an early setback after losing to Manila Nomads FC, 2-3. Undeterred, the Blue Eagles regrouped and hustled to effectively bounce back in their succeeding match-ups against Beach Hut FC Green, Beach Hut FC Orange, Beach Hut Alumni, and Payday FC.

Soon after, the Blue Eagles advanced to the finals to face Manila Nomads FC once again, with attacker Jada Bicierro scoring a goal to secure the gold for Ateneo, 1-0.

When asked about her hopes for the team after their victorious outing, Bicierro noted the squad’s goal of enjoying the process, as her team gains more winning momentum.

“I only wish for constant improvement for the team so that we can really put our best foot forward for [the University Athletic Association of the Philippines] UAAP. Most importantly, I just want us to be happy and to enjoy. I think performing well and executing how we want to be as a team can help with that,” Bicierro shared.

Following the AWFT’s stellar performance in the Beach Hut Summer Football Festival, the team looks to complete more tournaments before they return to the collegiate ranks for the UAAP Season 88 Women’s Football Tournament.
