FOLLOWING HER strong debut on the Olympic rowing scene, Joanie Delgaco advanced to the quarterfinals after a first-place finish in the Women’s Single Sculls repechage event at the 2024 Summer Olympics. The event was held earlier today at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium in Paris, France.
After her fourth-place finish in the Women’s Single Sculls event yesterday, Delgaco was presented with a second chance to advance to the next round in this afternoon’s repechage event.
The Filipina rower embodied the countrys pride, powering through the Parisian tides to secure first place in the event. Delgaco got off to a solid start as she frontlined the lead, tailed behind by Vietnam’s Pham Thi Hue and Cuba’s Yariulvis Cobas Garcia.
After the first 1000 meters, Delgaco remained ahead of the competition, solidifying her title bid with strenuous efforts to increase speed. She clocked in at exactly 7:55:00 by the end of the race, a second faster from yesterday’s qualifiers.
As the country’s first female representative in Olympic rowing history, Delgaco seeks to bolster her historic stint in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, July 30 at 3:30 PM at the same venue.
