THE ATENEO Blue Eagles concluded the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 85 Athletics Tournament yesterday, December 4, at the PhilSports Complex in Pasig City.
Kanna Shimoda was the sole Atenean representative for the Women’s Long Jump event, where she finished 22nd overall with a result of 4.65 meters.

Shimoda then teamed up with teammates Franxine Regalado, Louise Cabrera, and Jasha Tan in the Women’s 4x400m Relay event. Clocking in at a time of 4.47:33, the Blue Eagles finished eighth overall.

Capping off the Blue Eagles’ campaign was the Men’s 4x400m Relay event. Ateneo’s Joaquin Ipapo, Gideon Restor, Antonio Severino, and Mari Sison also finished in eighth place with a time of 3:38.63.

Reflecting on their season, Regalado is proud that the team gave it their all against the UAAP’s best. “The fact that we have the courage to take them on despite knowing our current situation, I think that’s something to be proud of,” she shared.
Moreover, her teammate Jasha Tan noted that their gained experience will fuel them even more as they prepare for the upcoming Season 86. She said, “This just motivates us to work harder and to just give our best in everything.”
After five days of action, the Ateneo Men’s Track and Field Team finished eighth, earning a total of five points. Meanwhile, the Women’s Track and Field Team garnered 16 points overall and one silver medal to finish at the same spot.
