LOYOLA GAMING (LG) Terra demolished the Cebu Institute of Technology-University Wildcat Esports League, 13-4, 13-4, and advanced to the playoffs as the top seed of the AcadArena (AA) Alliance Games 2022 Season 1 last June 4. The first season of the AA Alliance Games was held through a fully remote setup with players tuning in from their own homes.

Both teams entered the match undefeated and were vying for the top spot in the Group A bracket. LG Terra had an explosive start to open the series by claiming the first four rounds of the game through well-coordinated plays and flawless round executions. Despite a triple kill forged by LG Terra’s Juan Antonio “Moses” Rosales in round five, the Wildcats were still able to snatch the round win through their effective gameplay. However, despite the loss in round five, the Blue and White was able to respond to the Wildcats with another 4-0 round rally midway through the match, 8-1.

Pegged as the dark horse of their bracket, the Wildcats worked around their point deficit and impressively enforced unexpected strategies to win the last three rounds of the first half, 8-4. In the second half of the match, LG Terra rose to the occasion and secured the victory after a 5-0 run courtesy of Carlos “tinio” Tinyo’s four kills in round 16 and a clutch kill in round 17.

LG Terra continued to bank on their momentum from their first game and quickly opened the second match with 10 unanswered rounds. Throughout their hot streak, Tinyo had four kills in round four while Moses contributed his own triple kill in round 10. With the Wildcats proving that they belong in the collegiate leagues, they mounted one last comeback by claiming three successive rounds, 3-10. LG Terra finished the match on a 4-1 run, 13-4, with Michael “Flex” Uy registering a triple kill in round 15.

“[LG Terra] worked hard on filling the gaps and fixing the mistakes they [committed in the early rounds], but of course, the team is still very hungry so they’re definitely not stopping there. They’re still seeking improvements on some parts of their gameplay,” LG Student Manager Francesca “Foxtrot” Palafox mentioned.

LG Terra claimed the first seed in Bracket A of the AA Alliance Games and booked a ticket to the upcoming playoffs on June 25. On the other hand, due to the loss against LG Terra, the Wildcats will face Far Eastern University Institute of Technology Pendulum in the lower bracket to compete for the last spot in the playoffs.
