JUVIC PAGUNSAN capped off his Olympic journey earlier today with a rank of 55th overall in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Men’s Golf Individual Stroke Play.

The Filipino golfer finished the first round of the tournament tied for fifth place but later slipped down 19 ranks to end the succeeding round at a joint T24. His struggles carried over to the third round, where he was unable to accomplish any birdies and acquired five bogeys in the process. He ended the round joint-55th with a 76 in the 71-par course.

With a score of 2-over-par, he was 15 strokes behind the leader of the round three scoreboard, USA’s Xander Schauffele.

Come the fourth and final round, Pagunsan got off to a great start in the front nine, striking three birdies in Holes No. 3, 5, and 6, and just one bogey in Hole No. 2. However, he began to falter as he commenced the back nine, merely parring Holes No. 10 through 17 and carding a bogey in Hole No. 18. He attained a score of 1-under-par for the final round.

Pagunsan was unable to recover from his round three performance, retaining his T55 standing by the end of the final round. He obtained an overall score of 1-over-par 285 for the Olympic golf tournament.

Meanwhile, the competition was dominated by Xander Schauffele who held his lead to snag the gold medal with an overall 18-under-par 266. Rory Sabbatini of Slovakia finished in second place for the silver medal, while Pan C T took home the bronze for Chinese Taipei.
