LOYOLA GAMING (LG) Terra dropped their first match in Season 3 of the Esports AcadArena (EAA) University Alliance Cup. The Ateneans lost to Holy Angel University’s (HAU) Valiant Esports in the map Bind, 11-13 last August 29.
Early in the match, the Blue and White won the pistol rounds which gave them the advantage, 2-0. However, HAU was able to tie up the scoreline 2-2, highlighted by HAU Kael making good use of Killjoy’s lockdown to force LG into a gun duel. The duel would prove to be too much for LG, handing Valiant the win to tie up the match. From there on out, it was a nip and tuck first half which saw LG Esports gain a slight advantage going into the switch, 7-5, fueled by two consecutive early round picks in rounds nine and ten by Michael “LG Flex” Uy.
Switching onto the attackers side, LG Terra was able to take the opening two rounds to give them a four round cushion, 9-5. However, HAU came storming back as they replied with three consecutive rounds of their own; inspired by two back-to-back flawless rounds in rounds 16 and 17. The Blue and White had another answer for this however, as Matthew “LG Matteo” Brillantes clutched a 1v2 in round 20 to give LG an 11-9 lead. Despite this, LG would be capped at 11 rounds won as Valiant would go on a four round win streak. Valiant showcased excellent retakes and hold on sites A and B, pushing HAU to conquer Bind, 11-13.
Justin “LG Dippy” Ngkaion said that the team played well overall and are looking to bounce back next week. “I think we played well. There are some things that we could’ve done better but overall we played well and just got unlucky since our opponents played well too. [The map] Bind for us was alright since we practiced for it but we just fell short today.” he shared.
LG Terra will look to get back on track as they go up against Far Eastern University’s Tams FX on Sunday, September 5, at 4PM. Fans can stream the matches on https://www.twitch.tv/acadarenaph or https://www.facebook.com/AcadArenaPH.
