After opening the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 82 Table Tennis Tournament with a 3-1 standing, the Ateneo Women’s Badminton Team  earned two more victories with identical 3-1 scorelines over Far Eastern University (FEU) and the University of the Philippines (UP) on Wednesday, November 13 at the Ateneo De Manila University Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City.

Ateneo’s Kaela Aguilar opened proceedings against FEU’s Yu. After an 8-11 loss in the first set, Aguilar rattled off three straight sets, 11-6, 11-8, 11-4, to give Ateneo the first team-tie point of the morning. Ann Borbon grinded out a duel with FEU’s Gabutin in the second match, coming out with the victory after five sets.

The doubles lineup of Geque Carado and Nadine Uy failed to sweep the team-tie against the Tamaraw duo of Cruz and Amata after losing a 2-1 lead in set scores. FEU took the crucial fourth and fifth sets, 5-11 and 6-11, respectively. Fortunately for Ateneo, Angela Calvo closed out the next match against FEU’s Cañada in three sets to bag the team-tie.

In the second team-tie, Ann Borbon went head-to-head with Lady Maroon Dayrit and sealed the win in three sets, 11-6, 11-4, 11-1. Aguilar kept the momentum going in the second match, dispatching UP’s Capatan in another sweep.

Carado and Uy suited up against Lady Maroons Lyra Duro and Fellianne Labian. Both teams split the first two sets before UP rode a hot streak to close out the match and earn their first team-tie point. Calvo finished off the team-tie once again, this time needing all five sets to ensure another Ateneo victory.

The Ateneo Lady Eagles have a chance to stretch their winning streak to five against the University of the East at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 14 at the Ateneo De Manila University Blue Eagle Gym, Quezon City.
