Ateneo Track and Field strides through days 3 and 4

THE BLUE and Lady Eagles took home one silver and two bronze medals as they continued their campaign in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 81 Athletics Tournament on Friday, November 30, and Saturday, December 1, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Men’s Javelin Throw

Season 80 bronze medalist Nate Rosal dropped to 14th in the javelin throw standings with a distance of 42.91m. Newcomer Madjid Tiblani achieved a distance of 47.93m as he ranked sixth overall.

Men’s 4x100m Relay

Ateneo’s contingent for the 4×100 missed out on the podium, notching fourth place overall. The quartet consisted of Miguel Garrido, Rafa Dylim, Yuhei Go and Jonathan Talbot and finished with a time of 43.03s.

Men’s 400m

Go and Dylim also ran in the men’s 400m. The duo fell behind in the standings as they ranked 21st and 23rd respectively as Go finished with 52.03s while Dylim ended at 53.13s.

Men’s High Jump

Alessandro Songco was the lone participant of the Blue and White for this event and was able to garner a final score of 1.85m to grab the bronze medal.

Decathlon

The trio of Henry Gonzales, Mark Operario and Matteo Crisostomo bannered the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the event. After 10 sub-events, Gonzales landed a podium finish and took home the bronze with a final score of 5,472. Operario followed behind with a total score of 5,332 to place sixth, and Crisostomo finished with 5,083 points en route to an eighth-place finish.

Women’s 4x100m Relay

The Lady Eagles had the quartet of Kim Zulueta, Carmela Dublin, Viah Mostoles and Sheila Talja rank fifth in the relay. The squad finished with a time of 49.77s.

Women’s 400m

Running in the 400m heats for the Lady Eagles were Nika Crisostomo, Millefagne Matchino, and Shiela Patino. All three fell behind in the heats and did not make it to the 400m final. Crisostomo put up a 1:02.73 minute performance to rank 16th overall while Matchino (1:03.01min) ranked 18th, and Patino (1:03.07min) followed at 19th.

Women’s Discus Throw

Two Lady Eagles took to the pit for the discus throw. Rookie Shanelle Siasoyco managed to rank 10th overall with a distance 0f 32.00m while Sophia De Dios ranked 16th with her 29.12m throw.  

Women’s Heptathlon

Lady Eagle Viah Mostoles bested nine out of her 10 opponents in seven events to grab the silver finish on the podium. She placed second in each of the sub-events to tally a final score of 4,008 and run away with the silver medal.

The final day of the tourney will commence at 6:00 AM on Sunday, December 2, at the same venue.
