Last season, the Company of Ateneo Dancers (CADs) Streetdance team attempted to distinguish themselves from competitiors by adding soft textures and urban choreography to their performance in contrast to the flashiness, strength, and intensity shown by the other teams. Their efforts, however, fell short as the Blue and White missed out on a podium finish for the second year in a row. With redemption on their minds, these Blue and Lady Eagles are hungry to bring streetdance glory back to the Loyola Heights.
Team Captain
Joe Morabe
Now on his second year as CADs Streetdance Head, senior Joe Morabe will once again take charge of the team’s blocking, staging, song choices, and choreography. Acting as their de facto coach, Morabe admits that his leadership style is somewhat disciplinarian, as he constantly keeps the team in check while planning out their activities and events for the year. This season, Morabe is looking to lead his team to victory in the UAAP Streetdance competition while also giving the team and organization the power to inspire others.
“I hope that CADs can inspire not just the dancers within our school, but Ateneans in general who want to dance. We know that by doing well in competitions, we will be able to represent both the school and ourselves well.”
Ethan Lim
As a former member of teams such as Xavier School’s Dance X and LMN, junior Ethan Lim is certainly no stranger to the world of the competitive dance. As the current Streetdance Coordinator, Lim describes his leadership style as far from uptight. He likes to have an open atmosphere during training, which allows the team to find enjoyment in every session. For this year, Lim is hoping not only to conquer the UAAP Streetdance competition, but for each and every “CADster” to partake in the team’s holistic development as both people and performers.
