Team
Having proven themselves capable of dispatching giants last season, the Blue Eagles are primed to exceed their 4-6 record this year in the hopes of winning it all. Armed with a more positive mindset on the court, the team is set to break through the slump and end nearly two decades of tough losses.
Team Captain
Ino Canlas
Ino Canlas steps up in his fifth year as a Blue Eagle, serving his last term as team captain once again. A league standout and a fearsome foe on the collegiate tennis court, Canlas will lead the charge for the Blue and White in Season 80, carrying the flag in a new campaign on the clay.
“I think it’s all going to boil down on belief and on who wants it more. It’s going to be very competitive and every team is on the same level. No team is too good to not have a chance.”

Anton Punzalan
Fifth-year player and doubles specialist Anton Punzalan dons the school’s colors in the final leg of his Ateneo journey. Having matured tremendously over the course of his career, Punzalan stands as a figure of leadership—controlling tempo and chemistry as one of the squad’s senior players.

Julian Dayrit
Last season’s Rookie of the Year Julian Dayrit made an impression on the clay during his debut. This season, he is set to raise the bar higher. Despite being only a sophomore, Dayrit has shown tremendous prowess beyond his years and an unbreakable will to carry an even greater weight on his shoulders.

Bong Gonzalez
Bong Gonzalez opens the first chapter of his Ateneo journey as the team’s lone rookie, adding further fuel to a lineup already brimming with potential. The Ateneo de Manila High School product has shown poise in high-pressure matches, indicating definite promise in his capabilities as an athlete.

Coach’s Corner
PJ Tierro
The Blue Eagles are fortunate to have two coaches to steer them through the fight, with Coaches PJ Tierro and Gee Abacan lending their expertise and experience. Having implemented a program since the preseason, Tierro and Abacan have put the team through every avenue of competition to prepare the boys for battle.
“This year is our best chance to really win the title. I hope they achieve their dream.”
