Team
After narrowly missing out on the championship in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 79, the Lady Eagles are ready to renew their bid for badminton glory. A successful preseason, as well as the valuable addition of rookies, bodes well for the upcoming season.
Team Captain
Cassie Lim
With three years of UAAP experience under her belt, the new Blue and White captain Cassie Lim will be bringing experience and a winning mentality to the team. Lim will lead the team through example by dedicating herself to training and preparations for the upcoming season.
“I can motivate the team and remind them to focus and to take it one game at a time. From there, the team is ready to play their hearts out.”
Bianca Carlos
Undefeated in singles competition in all her UAAP seasons, former team captain Bianca Carlos will return to play her final season for the Ateneo. After recent victories in multiple categories in the prestigious Frederick D. Go Cup, Carlos hopes to cap off her illustrious Ateneo career with a gold.
Trixie Malibiran
Season 78 captain Trixie Malibiran will return to the fore as she looks to bookend her Ateneo journey with a championship–having last won the gold in her rookie year. Commonly deployed as a singles player, Malibiran boasts of a strong track record that she hopes to build on in the upcoming season.
Aly Roxas
Swapping the Red and White of Assumption College for the Blue and White of Ateneo, new recruit Aly Roxas aims to help her team reclaim their first championship since Season 76. The Assumption College alumnus boasts of speed, versatility, and the ability to play in both the singles and doubles divisions.
Bea Felizardo
Despite only joining the Lady Eagles recently, Bea Felizardo has already been tapped by her captain to play an important role in the team. Felizardo, who can play either the singles or doubles divisions, will provide the necessary depth that the team needs.
Coach’s Corner
Kennie Asuncion-Robles
The experienced veteran coach Kennie Asuncion-Robles hopes that every player on the team will step up this coming season.
“The [Lady Eagles] have a very, very good chance of making it to the finals, but of course we don’t really look at it that way. We are taking it one team-tie at a time.”
