Team
After a year of preparations for tournaments such as the Binay Cup, the Super League, and the Octa Cup, the Blue Eagles are more than ready to head into a new campaign. Despite losing some veterans, the team has added rookie Edrick Carlos and former team member Jasper Sy as the members start their climb up the table.
Team Captain
Pao Rosete
Taking the reins in his senior year, newly appointed team captain Pao Rosete will look to lead the team to new heights. With three years of invaluable collegiate experience under his belt, Rosete aims to set an example for his teammates, on and off the court, in whatever way he can.
“I plan on leading the team by being an example of what [a team member] should be: dedicated. I want to build that culture within the team.”
David Dayao
Returning to the Blue Eagles for his fifth and final season, David Dayao suits up for the finale of his career as a singles specialist. Having captained the team last year, the veteran is familiar with the ups and downs of competition as he lends his invaluable experience for the Blue and White.
Jolo Matias
Having made a significant impact on the team last year, veteran Jolo Matias hopes to make a similar contribution in the upcoming season. After joining a number of pocket tournaments in the preseason, Matias’ fighting spirit on the college tables will be a crucial addition to the Blue Eagles’ cause.
Coach’s Corner
Mario Breiva
Head coach Mario Breiva returns to lead the Ateneo Table Tennis team in Season 80. Putting in the hours during the team’s training regime, Breiva hopes that the off-season work the team has gone through will be enough to overcome last year’s lackluster performances.
Sa ngayon, kulang pa kami sa recruit [pero] medyo laban na kami ngayon (As of now, we are still lacking in recruits, but we will fight).”
