THE ATENEO Blue and Lady Eagles played their first matches of the second round of the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) season with matches against De La Salle University (DLSU) and University of the Philippines (UP) on Sunday, March 12 at De La Salle University in Manila.
Jolo Lat salvages a draw against rivals
The Blue Eagles entered the first match of their second UAAP round with the primary aim of adding to their cumulative point tally.
Looking to build upon a strong performance against top seed NU in the last matchup, Paco Rivera, Renzo Marquez, Gavin Ong, and Jolo Lat stepped up to represent the Blue and White once more. It was only veteran Jolo Lat, however, who managed to add to the Blue Eagles’ tally, managing a draw on board 4.
A day to forget for the Lady Eagles
Coming from a strong performance that saw the Lady Eagles maintain their position above last place National University (NU), the Blue and Whites looked determined to garner points.
Mine Sandoval, along with Aryanne de Ocampo, Team Captain Bren Membrere, and Jasmine Principe, were selected to compete against Ateneo’s Katipunan rivals, UP. Unable to replicate their NU heroics, the Ateneo Lady Eagles finished the day with a 0-4 loss.
