TEAM CAPTAIN

David Dayao

Senior player David Dayao has been with the team since his freshman year and has now risen through the ranks to become captain this season.
“The goal of the team is to be the champions, but we plan to take it one step at a time, so for this season, our goal is to reach the Final Four. We hope to bring the roster closer together, especially the veterans because with a stronger team, I believe we could help garner a win for Ateneo this year.”

RETURNING VETERANS

Kyle Lao

Back in the fray after a year’s absence is Kyle Lao. Although Lao played in the first two years in college, the senior was unable to play in the UAAP ranking matches last season. Now back in his final year, Lao is determined to make up for lost time in his last hurrah.

Paolo Rosete, Jolo Matias, and Mikey Lagasca

Rosete, Matias, and Lagasca are the three rising stars of Ateneo Table Tennis who will be instrumental to getting a win in the singles division this season along with Dayao. With Rosete and Matias with two years of UAAP experience under their belts and Lagasca being a sophomore to UAAP competition, these three will look to get Ateneo over the hump the reach their goal of getting into the Final Four.

NEW RECRUITS

Andre Rondolo, Lester Violeta, and James Somontina

Rondolo, Violeta, and Somontina are three newcomers to UAAP competition. Violeta was the captain of Marist School’s table tennis team and two-time PRADA 2nd runner-up in high school, whilst Rondolo and Somontina are late bloomers who have improved vastly by joining many pocket tournaments outside of the UAAP.

COACH’S CORNER

Mario Breiva

Lumalaban talaga kami pero hindi pa sapat kami. Ang mga nakakalaban natin karamihan recruit.”
