Morado leads Lady Eagles to UE sweep

THE ATENEO Lady Eagles swept their game against the University of the East Lady Warriors in straight sets, 25-15, 25-13, 25-11, on Wednesday, April 6 at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The victory puts the Blue and White on a five-game winning streak and an 11-2 record in the elimination round of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 78 Women’s Volleyball tournament.

Team Captain Alyssa Valdez continued to lead the team in the scoring department, garnering 17 points during the game. Jho Maraguinot and Amy Ahomiro followed her lead with 13 and eight points, respectively.

Lady Eagle Jia Morado was awarded as the Player of the Game, after earning 27 excellent sets.

“I think we are ready naman, it’s just that we have to prepare ourselves psychologically since we lost the last round,” Morado said, talking about their next game against their Lady Spiker rivals. “It takes a lot to bounce back after that loss.”

Their next game will be against the De La Salle University Lady Spikers, 4:30 PM, Sunday, April 10 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
