ARMED WITH a renewed sense of confidence after placing first runner-up in Season 77’s Street Dance Competition (SDC), the Company of Ateneo Dancers (CADS) is looking forward to finally clinching the Blue and White’s first SDC Championship.
“Our goal is gold,” says CADS President Lorraine Adarme.
Despite the previous year’s success, CADS faced great difficulty when the SDC clashed with another widely celebrated dance competition–the World Hip Hop International. Because of the coinciding training periods for both competitions, the team found it difficult to divide their pool of performers for each event while, at the same time, ensuring that both teams were equally balanced. Nevertheless, this tough hurdle was not enough to stop CADS from securing a podium finish in both competitions.
This year, however, the Ateneo’s premier dance organization is in it to win it all. “Our goal is gold,” says CADS President Lorraine Adarme. “We want to bring it home for Ateneo by creating a piece that will challenge our performers, help them grow and of course, let them enjoy the UAAP experience.” With CADS Street Head Gaby Zamora and Street Coordinator Lexxel Tanganco taking the lead of SDC preparations, the team expects to execute a more elaborate and innovative routine.
Now that the team has the luxury of more time to devote to their training and planning phase, CADS is excited to perform in full force during the competition. With their sole concentration and effort dedicated to the SDC, CADS is within striking distance of securing their first ever SDC title.
