THE ATENEO Lady Eagles lost against the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Tigresses, 48-57 on Sunday, September 20 at the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City.

It was a tight contest until the end of the third quarter, as both teams were trading shot after shot. Neither team led by more than 5 up until midway through the fourth quarter, where UST was able to pull away from the opposition.

Although the Tigresses looked like they were in control of the match, the Lady Eagles constantly put pressure on them courtesy of some strong work in the post by Danica Jose. There were times when it looked like the Lady Eagles would roar back into the game but they weren’t able to stop UST’s offense, which matched each of the Lady Eagles’ shots.

The aforementioned Jose led the Blue and White with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Hazelle Yam followed Jose’s offensive output with 7 points.

This loss puts the Lady Eagles at 1-3 in the elimination round standings of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 78.

Their next game will be against De La Salle University, 1 PM, Wednesday, September 23 at the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City.
