THE ATENEO Arnis team took home the overall championship plum in the recently concluded 13th Arnis Pasindo Eskrima tournament held last August 9 at the volleyball courts of the Quezon City Memorial Circle.

This version of the Blue Eagles, known as the Kali Arnis Martial Arts Organization (KAMAO), bested 11 other teams in the tourney, which was themed as the “Sagupaan ng Arnis 2015.” It consisted of three arnis fighting styles: Full-contact sparring, forms event, and combat demonstration.

Spearheading the charge for the KAMAO team was Women’s Team Captain Tinelle Palecpec, who took home a pair of golds and a silver. On the other hand, Daniel Bernas took the lead for the men’s squad as he brought home the same amount of silverware for the Blue and White.

Also bringing home trophies for the women’s team were Abigayle Recio with one gold medal, as well as Catherine Hoggang and Jude Rodriguez with a silver medal each. Meanwhile, Mato Tanchangco and Jordan Cruz took home one gold medal each, while Josh Piencenaves and Carl Garcia won a bronze each to add to the men’s haul.

The team totalled seven gold, five silver, and a pair of bronze medals, giving them just enough to take the spoils as overall team champions of the tournament.
