THE SCHOOL of Social Sciences (SOSS) Sanggunian deliberated on the institutionalization of the SOSS Council during a meeting held last September 30 at the Ricardo and Dr. Rosita Leong Hall room 206.

According to SOSS Secretary-Treasurer Marvin Lagonera, SOSS Dean Filomeno Aguilar Jr., PhD proposed the creation of the said council in order to establish community building within SOSS.

During the meeting, Lagonera said that one of the goals of the proposed council is to foster better collaboration among the student organizations that are related to SOSS.

He added that the SOSS Council will encourage these organizations to work together in organizing the future events and programs of the school.

Furthermore, Lagonera said that the council will also be of help to the SOSS executive committee during the SOSS Week preparations.

Trial stage

A one-semester trial stage of the SOSS Council is being proposed to begin in November.

According to Lagonera, a formal resolution to institutionalize the council will be submitted to the SOSS Sanggunian if the trial run proves a success.

He said that the members of the proposed SOSS Council will be chosen through a consensus voting process. In the meantime, however, Lagonera said that the council will be open to all members of the SOSS Sanggunian as long as they are willing to commit.

The members of the proposed council are set to have regular meetings every three weeks starting next semester.
