THE MEDIA and the Creative Arts (MCA) Cluster launched its MCA Week in the Loyola Schools from January 7 to 11 with the theme “Get High on Creativity!”

The MCA Cluster prepared different activities during the week that showcased what each of its member organizations could offer.

The cluster is composed of the following organizations: Ateneo Association for Communication Majors (Acomm), Ateneo Musicians’ Pool (AMP), Ateneo Collegiate Society of Advertising (COSA) and Loyola Film Circle (LFC).

The events

The following series of talks about media and the creative arts were held at Science Education Complex (SEC) Lecture Hall C: Creative Industry by Lester Cruz and Dean Miguel of Moving Things, Social Innovation by Paul Diaz of Timbre Headphones and The Production House by Dijo Songco of ManilaMan Productions.

Moreover, “Tambay Week” was held at the SEC B Foyer, while the MCA Exhibit was held at the SEC C Foyer.

Other events included “MCA Clash,” which was a battle of the four organizations for the best org mascot, fashion walk, talent show and centerpiece.

“MCA Live,” which was a culminating party, was supposed to follow, but it was cancelled due to inclement weather.

In addition to the MCA Family Feud, the four organizations also organized the rest of the MCA Week Games: Acomm’s “Minute to Win It,” LFC’s “Filmpardy,” COSA’s “Kick-Ads” and AMP’s “Singing Bee” and Rockband competition.

For junior Valerie Widmaier, the event was an eye-opener. “MCA week also helped me take notice of all the accomplishments of each organization.”

“I had no idea they had so much ‘til I saw them all lined up on the bulletin boards. My respect and appreciation for each organization has definitely grown,” she added.

The GUIDON tried to contact MCA Cluster Head Cezanne Villafuerte, but she has not responded as of press time.
