“A reason why we can’t go all out to the community when it comes to events is partly because we don’t have financial leverage to do so. Of course, we’re working on some initiatives already but we’ll really need help from the offices. Sayang rin naman kasi kung marami ngang events pero substandard.”
Michael Avendano,
Finance Officer, Ateneo Musicians Pool
“The Sanggunian currently has cap costs for many of its expenses. For instance, our meals are priced at P60 per pax for breakfast, and P80 per pax for lunch and dinner… However, there is no assurance if one caps Sanggu budget that the money will be redistributed.”
Toni Potenciano,
Chairperson, School of Social Sciences Sanggunian
“What we need is to disclose SAF first of all so that we know how much budget surplus there is. By knowing that, we will be able to allocate and reallocate funds among these orgs. If there is high excess in budget, then we should allocate that to our orgs because it is their right and students paid for that. If there [are] virtually no funds in the SAF then we can help explain the difficulty organizations and students encounter in trying to get the funds they pay for with their own tuition money.”
Brian Llamanzares, Premier, Crusada
“Since SAF is included in our basic student fees, then increasing the SAF budget would entail a raise in our total student fees per semester. Other fees won’t be affected by this because the SAF collects a set and restricted amount per semester. It’s a separate thing from the rest of the fees.”
Billie Dumaliang,
Finance Officer, Sanggunian
